Abstract

In this paper, the "big ideas" music framework is based on the connotation of "big ideas" and the compulsory education curriculum standards, from "music discipline concept, interdisciplinary concept to interdisciplinary theme".  The framework of the "big ideas" music discipline is summarized in the compulsory education curriculum standards.  Secondly, we designed the STEAM music curriculum design model and design strategy based on the "big ideas" with the research results of domestic and foreign scholars.  The STEAM curriculum is project-based, which echoes the requirements of the curriculum of aesthetics in practice and curriculum integration;  the generality and transferability of the big ideas help students to build a knowledge system;  and the design of STEAM curriculum around the big ideas provides new ideas for music subject teaching.  Big ideas" are the most basic and fundamental materials for understanding, capable of being conceived as meaningful patterns and connecting multiple, disconnected dots of knowledge.
